The movie opens in 1925, with scenes of gore and demons. Evangeline Broussard prepares to hang herself from her balcony when she is stopped by a man trying to reassure her that he is truly Louis and that she shouldn’t hang herself. Evangeline calls him a liar, then jumps, hanging herself to death also causing her head to rip off and bounce down the stairs. Louis stares over the balcony as his eyes switch to a demonic shade of orange. The film then cuts to modern day, where Angela Feld (Shannon Elizabeth) is preparing for her Halloween party at the Broussard mansion, stating that if the party doesn't go well she’ll be forced out onto the streets.

As everyone prepares for the party, Colin (Edward Furlong) approaches the den of the drug lord Nigel. After being threatened, Colin is told that he must sell enough drugs at Angela’s party in order to pay double what he normally gets or die. Colin attempts to enter the party, only to have to bribe his way in. Inside the party Lily (Diora Baird) runs into her ex-boyfriend Dex (Michael Copon), later reuniting in one of the abandoned upstairs bedrooms. Maddie (Monica Keena) notices that Colin is there selling drugs, but decides against approaching him or alerting Angela that he was there. Suzanne (Bobbi Sue Luther) asks Maddie why she dated Colin, to which Maddie replies that she hoped that she could change him and that he was good in bed. Maddie then enters one of the house’s bathrooms and is attacked by a hand reaching through the mirror. When she attempts to show the broken mirror to one of her friends, the mirror appears to be unbroken. They decide it was an elaborate prank set by Angela.

After a while the party is broken up by the local police, stating that Angela neglected to get a party permit and that it doesn't qualify as a private party since she was charging admission. Panicked, Colin stuffs his drugs into a grate to hide it from the police. Madie, Lily, Dex and Jason leave, returning when they cannot locate Suzanne, who passed out. Colin begs Angela for the keys to the basement in order to retrieve the drugs, which she reluctantly agrees to. While down in the basement Colin and Angela explore. Angela remarks that the house is full of hidden rooms, including a tunnel that leads to the next estate over. The two discover a hidden room which contains six skeletons. Angela excitedly shows it to the remaining revelers, assuming that the skeletons are the remains of the missing party guests of Evangeline Broussard.

Then begins the first of many unusual occurrences, each including visits from a peculiar woman, Celeste (Anna Mae Routledge). She first appears as an exterminator when the Jensen's house get overrun with wasps that has been building up for 16 years. The Jensen family are now unable to go back into their house until the wasps are exterminated. Abby's best friend, Jay Kepler (Jean-Luc Bilodeau), appears and offers Abby a jacket to wear over her pyjamas, as she is unable to go back into her house to change. When Abby reaches into Jay's jackets pocket, she finds a birthday present for her from Jay. It is a necklace with a half of a heart saying "BFF". Jay has the other half which he uses a charm on his key ring. As Jay and Abby go to their bus stop, a delivery truck pulls up, and Celeste comes out, dressed as a mail woman and gives a package to Abby. When Abby opens it, she discovers 16 candles and a matchbox.

Her birthday gets a whole lot brighter when Abby realizes that the candles correspond to her 16 wishes on her list and that they're each coming true. She lands the attention of her crush, gets the Ford Mustang she's always dreamed of, she gets back at her lifelong nemesis, Krista Cook (Karissa Tynes), and she is suddenly fashionable, athletic, and popular. She needs the perfect dress and Jay drops his wallet and Krista takes it. Then, they couldn't buy anything and Abby got mad. Abby then makes a wish to be treated like an adult, which results in her not being allowed to attend high school anymore, and no one at school remembers her, not even Jay.

Abby goes to Krista's Sweet 16 and convinces Jay, who also has a crush on her, that they are best friends by showing him the birthday present he gave her which restores his memories of her. However, Jay is unable to help her and can do nothing. Afterwards, Abby finds a loophole through the "rules", seeing as how her last wish was a picture of her crush, glued on with gum, which the rules don't know about.She switches the picture for a picture taken that morning of her and wishes she could go back to the way it was. Her life then goes back to normal, along with some dead wasps in the process. She and Krista become friends after Krista tells Abby why she hates her (Back in the 3rd grade, Abby and Jay made a pact to be best friends forever, but up until that point, Krista and Jay had been best friends). Abby and Krista have a combined Sweet 16 party and Krista and Logan, Abby's former crush, get together. Abby and Krista stop competing and work together to make the person who truly deserves to be Student Body President it: Jay. Abby and Jay kiss before sharing a dance together. Abby says she got everything she wants, Celeste disappears smiling.

Kishen (Akshay Kumar), a nerd, is unhappily married to Mala (Aishwarya Rai). They have a son, Bunty (Aditya Roy Kapoor), who does not want to get married because his parents are always fighting with each other. His girlfriend, Tanya (Sudeepa Singh), keeps proposing to him but Bunty always refuses.

On their 35th anniversary, Kishen and Mala get in an argument again because of Mala's friend Kundan (Rannvijay Singh). Kundan hates Kishen because he had been in love with Mala 30 years ago. This leads to a fight between Kishen and Kundan. After the fight, Tanya takes Bunty to her grandfather, Anthony Gonsalves (Randhir Kapoor), who happens to be a scientist. When Bunty and Tanya enter his laboratory he is working on a time machine. When Anthony Gonsalves asks Bunty why he refuses to get married Bunty tells him that he is scared of marriage because his parents seem so unhappy with theirs. When he returns home Kishen and Mala are fighting but this time it goes too far and they decide to divorce. When Bunty hears this he runs back to Anthony's lab to use the time machine to go back in time and make his parents fall in love. Without Anthony's supervision he enters the time Machine and goes back in time.

With the aid of the time machine Bunty goes back to a time before his parents had gotten married. He finds his grandfather's house where he sees his father, Kishen, and realizes that he is a nerd. Then he sees his mother whom he notices is attractive. Bunty then makes-over Kishen with help from Mala's friend Mona (Neha Dhupia). While helping Bunty, Mona happens to fall in love with Bunty. Bunty creates a plan to help Mala realise her love for Kishen. Instructing Kishen to ignore Mala while she was becoming friendly and arousing feelings in her, she realises her love for Kishen. But at this point she only tells Mona about her feelings for Kishen However their relatives are against love marriages and therefore do not accept their relationship. So they decide to run away together and get married. Kundan, being in love with Mala, takes Mala's mother, Bholi Devi (Kirron Kher) and the servant Bhikhu (Rajpal Yadav) with Kishen's father Rai Bahdur (Om Puri), and chases after Kishen and Mala, who are being helped in their escape by Bunty. After the chase, Kishen slaps Kundan for his bad behavior and everyone is fine with Kishen and Mala's relationship. Mona then proposes to Bunty but Bunty explains to her that he loves someone else and she is waiting for him.

Bunty then uses the time machine to go back to the future. As expected Kishen and Mala are deeply in love with each other. But unexpectedly Mona is married to Kundan. Bunty then takes Tanya aside and proposes to her and she accepts.

The movie starts off with a scene of a family on a small plane talking to the pilot (later announced as Sara's mother.)The little boy in the back seat with his own mother was extremely nervous. when he started hyperventilating, the pilot, his mother, and father look the direction he's looking and see an out of control plane which hits them and they go down. Sara, (Jessica Lowndes), who is now older, received her pilot's license and is planning on flying her and her friends to a concert instead of driving there like she told her father, a colonel who worries about her flying thinking the same thing will happen to her like it did to her mother. Sara is looking a photos of her late mother and her passengers (showing the little boy of the family in the first scene)on her last flight before the accident resulting her death.

Sara meets her two friends, Sal (Jake Weary)and Mel (Julianna Guill), who are shown to be dating, at the airport. Sara's cousin Cory (Ryan Donowho)arrives moments before Sara does and talks with Mel showing he has feelings for her. Sara has invited the guy she has been dating Bruce Parker (Landon Liboiron). When he arrives, he seems nervous and unwilling to get on the plane, but he does. When they take flight, Bruce is shown as extremely nervous and worried while everyone else is calm, and excited. It is shown that a nail on the tail of the plane is coming loose. Sara kiddingly lets Bruce fly the plane when Sal finds out Bruce brought the comic book Sara got him as a gift and demands for him to hand it over. Sara says his hands are tied and puts them on the wheel. They hit some turbulence and Bruce looses control and pulls the wheel back hard which causes them to fly upward. The loose nail has fallen off and jammed something on the tail. Meanwhile, Sara tries to gain control of the plane and Cory gives Bruce his comic book back but after Sal ripped out a page to taunt him.

Later, they fly into a dark storm and looses signal so they are unable to contact anyone for help. Sara informs everyone that the elevator in the tail is jammed so they will continue to fly up. without control of the plane, it wouldn't be long before they run out of air or crash into a mountain. Sara sees that the fuel tank is low and they'll only have less than an hour to figure things out. Bruce has a panic attack but Sal, being a wrestler, puts him to sleep from a choke hold. they tie him up and continue to think. Sara says the only way is to have someone go to the tail of the plane and unjam it manually. Mel gets a headache due to lack of air because of their altitude. Cory says he'll go out onto the tail because he's been a free climber for years. Everyone is reluctant for him to go except Sal. Cory brought his climbing gear so he takes out his rope and tells Sal to tie it to something. Cory questions his knot tying and Sal gets frustrated and wraps the rope around himself. Before Cory jumps out of the plane, Mel kisses him and he tells her he'll be fine as long as she keeps him right. with some obstacles, he makes it to the tail and unjams it. on his way back, Sal tries hard to pull Cory back and tells Mel to put her camera away and help. just as that happens,you see Bruce twitching as if he was having a bad dream and Sal sees the horrifying thing he saw earlier when they were getting rid of any unneeded weight. He looses control of the rope and is pulled out of the plane. He tries to get back in while the other end of the rope is tied to a handle on the inside of the plane. He takes out his pocket knife and begins to cut the rope. Cory has flown away after Sal gets back in. Everyone is in shock especially Sara. She begins to cry while Sal tries to tell her what he saw. Mel cries over the rope which has been cut. Bruce wakes up and sees that he's tied up and asks what happened and where Cory was. Mel yells at Sal and says he killed him because the rope didn't break, but it was cut. Sal yells at her about her "boyfriend" and for her accusing him of killing someone. Bruce asks what happened to him and Sara tells him he fixed the tail and Sal said something grabbed him. Sal said there was a monster out there. Bruce asks when he'll be untied and Sara responds saying when they can trust him again. He says he can be trusted but Sara says that he completely lost if and he lied to her about his parents' death so she couldn't trust him. She tells Mel to watch out for anything while she goes in the back to talk with Bruce. He tells her about his parents' death saying that he was in the plane when her mother died. We now know that he was the little boy and the passengers were his parents. He tells her that "they pulled me out of that lake with half my bones broken." Sara asks him if he was the Taylor's kid and he says yes. Sal says he thought his last name was Parker which Bruce says is his foster parents' last name.

Sinopsis:
Film hasil besutan sutradara Iain Softley ini dimulai denga tertangkapnya seorang anak lelaki usia 11 tahun, Zero Cool alias Dade Murphy oleh Secret Service gara-gara menulis virus komputer dan memasukkannya ke jaringan komputer Wall Street, bursa keuangan terkemuka Amerika Serikat sehingga ratusan komputer bursa keuangan tersebut pun mengalami kerusakan (crash). Akibatnya terjadi krisis finansial yang merepotkan di seluruh dunia. Dade dijatuhi hukuman untuk tidak menyentuh komputer hingga usia ke-18 tahun. Kini Dade yang telah berusia 18 tahun (diperankan oleh Jonny Lee Miller) pindah ke New York bersama ibunya, Lauren Murphy (Alberta Watson).

Di sekolah barunya, Dade bertemu dengan Kate Libby alias Acid Burn (Angelina Jolie) yang segera menjadi saingan dalam membuktikan siapa hacker terhebat. Walau bersaing sengit, toh tumbuh ketertarikan satu sama lain antara Dade dan Kate. Selain mereka juga terdapat hacker-hacker di sekolah, yaitu Joey Pardella (Jesse Bradford), Emmanuel Goldstein alias Cereal Killer (Matthew Lillard), Paul Cook alias Lord Nikon (Laurence Mason) dan Ramon Sanchez alias Phantom Phreak (Renoly Santiago). Mereka tergabung dalam kelompok hacker yang bernama Loyal 47. Mereka sering iseng melakukan pembobolan terhadap sasaran yang tidak berbahaya seperti mengganti sistem penyiraman taman sekolah, membatalkan kartu kredit milik agen FBI yang brengsek dan mengganti saluran televisi.

Namun pada suatu hari keisengan salah satu anggota Loyal 47 yaitu Joey yang membobol jaringan komputer perusahaan Gibson Mineral Corporation membuat kelompok hacker muda terkejut. Karena mereka menemukan bukti bahwa terjadi kejahatan penggelapan uang perusahaan tersebut yang sangat besar. Penggelapan uang tersebut dilakukan oleh kepala sekuriti perusahaan Eugene Belford (Fisher Stevens) dengan keahliannya sebagai hacker jenius. Belford yang memiliki julukan The Plague memasukkan uang hasil penggelapannya ke rekening nya bersama pacarnya, eksekutif perusahaan Gibson, Margo (Lorraine Braco).

Ketika tahu bahwa perbuatannyadiketahui oleh kelompok hacker remaja itu, maka The Plague melakukan fitnah melalui "hacking" sehingga Dade dan kelompoknya pun menjadi buruan polisi karena disangka adalah pelaku penggelapan uang tersebut. Repotnya masa lalu Dade yang pernah merusakkan jaringan komputer Wall Street membuat Loyal 47 makin sukar membela diri. Akibatnya mereka harus berpindah-pindah tempat menghindari polisi dan FBI, sembari berusaha mencari bukti-bukti yang dapat membersihkan nama mereka. Tetapi The Plague yang terobsesi untuk mengalahkan Loyal 47 sehingga menciptakan virus komputer yang dapat mengakibatkan kerusakan ekologi secara global.

Bagaimana usaha Dade, Kate dan teman-temannya berusaha membuktikan bahwa mereka tidak bersalah ? Akankah The Plague benar-benar akan melepaskan virus komputer yang bisa membuat ekologi dunia menjadi hancur ?

Beberapa budayawan juga terlibat semisal Sitok Srengenge, Bambang Paningron dan Bondan Nusantara.

Adalah Sutradara Kawakan Hanung Bramantyo yang mempersembahkan sebuah karya fenomenal, sebuah karya yang menjadi impiannya sejak kecil. Film yang menghabiskan dana Rp. 12 Miliar ini rencana akan tayang perdana serentak pada hari Rabu (8/9) dalam rangka menyambut Hari Raya Idul Fitri.
Pimpinan Pusat Pengurus Muhamadiyah, Din Syamsudin menghimbau warga Muhamadiyah untuk menyaksikan Film Sang Pencerah arahan sutradara Hanung Bramantyo.

Saya menghimbau khususnya warga Muhamadiyah untuk menonton film ini yang pada 9 September akan ditayangkan di bioskop, dan marilah kita dukung film ini, kalau berhasil nanti akan ada SANG PENCERAH II,” ungkap Din Syamsudin.
Himbauan tersebut disampaikan dalam syukuran film SANG PENCERAH, di kediamannya di Komplek Pejanten Elok, Pasar Minggu, Jakarta Selatan, Kamis (15/07).
“Atas nama pimpinan Muhamadiyah saya sampaikan ucapan terima kasih, tentunya film ini sangat ditunggu-tunggu oleh warga Muhamadiyah dan warga Indonesia pada umumnya,” ungkapnya.

Listen people do your self a favour and avoid watching this movie. the guns are without and triggers , the flashes and sparks are all computer generated , the explosions are all fake, the cut scenes are all copied from other ones and it has unnecessary things e.g they keep on showing the same building getting bombarded over and over again. there are pointless scenes and so unrealistic. the directors really did have a tight budget. so if you want to see this movie you might as well search it up in a search engine and watch it online. there is no point in buying dis movie or even renting it. i admit the acting was fairly good but there was no realism at all, as in one seen they had to save a kid from dying because he got shot. so obviously the seals would have medical packs or something because its obvious who would go into combat fully prepared and without field dressings, they know they are dealing with guns someone is bound to get shot. so if it was a real life situation they would’ve been fully prepared
